In June, the summer temperature has been rising, and the high temperature warning signal has been issued many times. If there is no heavy rain or typhoon to cool down, the unbearable taste of the heat is really uncomfortable.
When the weather is hot, many of our families or schools will turn on air conditioners for babies to cool down. It is good that the air conditioner brings us cool, but do you realize that if you stay in the air conditioning room for a long time, you will have some “air conditioning symptoms”, such as the whole body feeling tired, forehead pain, cold hands and feet, sore throat and joint pain. These are undoubtedly caused by the cooling of the air conditioner for a long time. Adults will have such symptoms, let alone our young and delicate babies.
Many babies who stay in the air-conditioned room for a long time will also generally suffer from sore throat, and may also suffer from cold symptoms. Many parents say that the baby’s air conditioner is frozen. In fact, freezing of the air conditioner is the surface phenomenon of the disease, but tracing back to the real source, parents should realize that the sanitation problems of the air conditioner will also bring these “air conditioning diseases” to the baby.
The principle of air conditioning and refrigeration is to transfer the indoor temperature to the outdoor through the compressor and refrigerant, providing a cool and dry environment for the indoor, but failed to provide air circulation for the indoor. So air conditioners are extremely easy to breed bacteria and viruses.
Many times we often use air conditioners in confined spaces, so the air is not circulated. If the air conditioners are not cleaned in time, they will spread a large amount of dust or bacteria and viruses, causing people in the room to have symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection such as cold, cough and runny nose, which is often referred to as “air conditioning disease”.
The baby’s resistance is weak, and it is easy to get caught if you are not careful. So, how should we use air conditioning for babies and be alert to the occurrence of “air conditioning disease”?
1. Keep the air conditioner clean and sanitary
The filter screen of the air conditioner is the most easy place to hide dirt. It is recommended to wash and dry it with clean water every 15 days and then install it back to its original position. The special air conditioner cleaner on the market can be used for cleaning and disinfection every 1 month, so as to minimize the breeding of germs and let the baby enjoy cool in a clean, comfortable and sanitary environment.
2. Avoid turning on the air conditioner for a long time and pay attention to ventilation
Generally, when we open the air conditioner, the doors and windows are closed to prevent the leakage of cold air. However, prolonged ventilation and lack of ventilation will also lead to poor indoor air quality, which is not conducive to the health of the baby. Therefore, it is recommended to turn off the air conditioner for 15-20 minutes every time it is turned on for ventilation, to ensure the indoor air health. In addition, it is not recommended that babies blow the air conditioner for a long time, and should keep their back and legs warm when blowing the air conditioner, so as to avoid cold hands and feet caused by blowing the air conditioner for a long time.
3. Pay attention to indoor air moisture
The air conditioning will reduce the humidity of the indoor air and make the indoor environment dry. If the baby stays in a low humidity environment for a long time, it is easy to cause dry mouth and tiredness, so in the air-conditioned room, parents should let the baby drink more water and replenish water in time, or prepare humidifiers for the room to keep the air at an appropriate humidity at all times.
Although air conditioners bring cool and refreshing to us and our babies in summer, improper or excessive use of air conditioners can easily lead to “air conditioning disease”. Therefore, correct use of air conditioners can give full play to its best advantages and let babies spend this midsummer in a healthy and happy way.
