Recovery items such as birth wound, uterine contraction, lochia and urination are indicators of maternal health after delivery. Generally, natural delivery is on the 3rd day after delivery, and caesarean section is on the 5th day after delivery. However, there is still a long way to go before she can fully recover. Therefore, Mommy still needs to pay close attention to whether she can recover according to the normal procedure.
Check for wound healing
Natural delivery only has perineal wound, with less complications and faster recovery than cesarean section. Generally, the pain has disappeared in about 1-2 weeks. In the case of caesarean section, the pain may not disappear until 1 to 2 months later.
Abnormal changes: normal wounds should be free from redness and swelling, and the pain will slow down day by day. Therefore, if the wound continues to ache, or swelling or abnormal secretions appear, it is necessary to suspect the possibility of infection and inflammation.
Check for uterine contractions
Under normal circumstances, the bottom of postpartum uterus should be located at the height of the navel, and then drop about 1 finger amplitude every day. After 2 weeks, it has shrunk into the pelvic cavity. When touching the abdomen, it can’t feel its bulge. After 1 month, it can return to the size and position of the antepartum.
Abnormal changes: abnormal uterine contraction makes the uterus not drop normally, and some placentas and blood clots remain in the body, resulting in abnormal postpartum hemorrhage.
Check for lochia after delivery
After birth, the decidua, epidermal cells and necrotic tissue attached to the uterine wall will be stripped one after another, accompanied by the discharge of blood from the vagina, which is the origin of lochia. The color of lochia was bright red or dark red on the 1st to 3rd day after parturition, turned to light pink or light yellow on the 4th to 10th day, and turned to white transparent secretion on the 11th to 14th day. According to the individual constitution, the time of lochia ending is also slightly different, which usually lasts for 3-6 weeks.
Abnormal changes: 1. The color of lochia did not change with time. 2. Massive bleeding. 3. Lochia has peculiar smell or abnormal secretion, combined with fever, abdominal pain and other symptoms.
Check urination
With the increase of the pregnancy cycle, the uterus will squeeze the bladder relatively, and the pelvic joints, muscles and ligaments can not be recovered for a while after delivery, as well as the decrease of hormones and other factors, which will lead to the emergence of urgent urinary incontinence within 3 weeks after delivery. However, with the gradual recovery of the body, most of the maternal symptoms will improve within one month, but there are also a few maternal life-long sequelae. In addition, the production process is not smooth, there are instruments involved in the process of labor, more pregnancies, also easy to lead to postpartum dysuria and postpartum urinary incontinence, and the incidence of vaginal producers is nearly 2 times higher than that of caesarean section.
Abnormal changes: Hot urination, frequent urination and urinary incontinence after confinement.
