Sitting delivery is actually a very ancient and natural method of production. Women used sitting delivery as early as the 18th century. “Laughing gas” delivery
The chemical name of a gas used for painless childbirth more than 160 years ago is “nitrous oxide”. As early as 1847, a German chemist synthesized this gas and found that once a person inhaled this gas, he could not help laughing. Once, when performing in the street, a person inhaled nitrous oxide and was so happy that he ran and jumped until he fell, but he still laughed and broke his leg, An American doctor at the scene realized that “laughing gas” may have anesthetic effect.
