Eight possibilities of delivery postures

When it comes to childbirth, you may be able to focus on the pain of childbirth. We have learned from maternity hospitals around the world that there are many positions for you to choose when giving birth. These gestures may make you more comfortable, less painful, and use more energy to experience the joy of new life!

In the process of delivery, when the fetus passes through the birth canal, it should rotate according to the shape of the mother’s pelvis and change the appropriate angle. The delivery posture of the mother will directly affect the smooth delivery of the fetus. If the posture adopted by the mother is not conducive to the rotation of the fetus, it may lead to dystocia.

Here are 8 different delivery postures, which are arranged according to the suitability of the fetus passing through the birth canal and the convenience of protecting the mother’s perineum, for your reference:

First place in comprehensive evaluation: supine (with feet raised and legs held)

Suitable degree of fetal delivery: 5

The degree of convenient protection of mother’s perineum: 2

Fatigue index: 1

Advantages

* it is convenient for the midwife to observe the fetus

* it can help the fetus to change the fetal position and facilitate delivery

Disadvantages

* all blood vessels are compressed, resulting in the decrease of placental blood flow and affecting the fetus

* sacrococcygeal joint is difficult to expand and pelvic outlet is narrow

* the vulva is more prone to tear, and the chance of side cutting is higher

* unable to take advantage of gravity

Second place in comprehensive evaluation: half sitting

Suitable degree of fetal delivery: 5

The degree of convenient protection of mother’s perineum: 2

Fatigue index: 2
