Most mothers have cramps during pregnancy, especially when they sleep at night. Many people think it’s because of the lack of calcium, so they pay great attention to the calcium supplement during pregnancy, but not only because of the lack of calcium, but also because of the details of our lives that are often ignored.
1. Calcium deficiency
Calcium is an important factor in regulating muscle contraction, cell division and gland secretion. If the body is short of calcium, it will increase the excitability of neuromuscular, and muscle contraction will lead to cramping. At the same time, the content of calcium in the blood at night is less than that during the day, so the cramp symptoms often occur at night.
Pregnant women can start calcium supplements after 20 weeks of pregnancy, and eat more calcium containing and easily absorbed foods, such as bean products, seafood, meat, eggs, etc. If appear defecate dry knot, still can eat some honey or embellish intestines appropriately defecate food.
2. Overwork
With the increase of gestational age, the weight of pregnant women is increasing, and the burden on the legs is also increasing, which makes the leg muscles often in a state of fatigue. If the pregnant mother stands too long or walks too much, it will lead to the accumulation of local acid metabolites, resulting in muscle spasms.
Therefore, pregnant women need to pay more attention to rest in the middle and later stages of pregnancy, eat well and sleep well to be in good health. At the same time, we need to pay attention to the amount of exercise, not too much.
3. Improper sleeping position
Pregnant women lie on their backs for a long time during pregnancy, with the quilt pressed on their feet; or lie on their feet for a long time, with the feet resting on the bed, making some muscles in the calves in an absolute state of relaxation for a long time, thus causing passive muscle spasm. Sleeping for too long will slow down blood circulation, accumulate metabolic waste, and muscle spasm will also occur.
Therefore, it is very important to have a correct sleeping posture during pregnancy. Using the left horizontal position can not only reduce the pressure of the uterus on the arteries and veins, ensure the smooth circulation of blood, but also help pregnant mothers urinate and alleviate the problem of edema.
4. Improper diet
Although calcium deficiency is the most common cause of cramps, if you eat too much meat at one time, it can also cause cramps. Because meat is rich in protein, excessive intake will affect carbohydrate metabolism, lead to acid metabolite accumulation, electrolyte disorder, cramp is one of the manifestations of electrolyte disorder. Therefore, pregnant mothers should have a balanced diet, neither too much nor too little.
5. Cold
If you don’t pay attention at night, when you sleep at a low temperature, the quilt covered is too thin or the legs are exposed outside the quilt, which causes the calf muscles to get cold, and the leg muscles will also have cramps. Therefore, we should pay special attention to keep warm during pregnancy, especially the leg cold at night.
Pregnancy cramps, pregnant women should have targeted care, so that 10 months of pregnancy easier, more conducive to fetal growth and development.
